The CHS Foundation grants up to $1,000 to innovative academic and leadership programs that strengthen student learning and enhance professional development. Examples include: leadership training opportunities, mentorship programs, professional development experiences and student fundraising efforts.
Student eligibility and funding criteria · Must be a campus-sanctioned club/organization
· Must have an agricultural-related focus
· Club/organization may receive only one grant per academic semester
· An advisor must be listed as a contact
· Regular and ongoing club expenses are ineligible

CHS Foundation Scholarships
The CHS Foundation offers three scholarship programs that focus on developing future leaders in agribusiness and production agriculture. Here are the programs offered:

High School Scholarship Program
The CHS Foundation will award 50 $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Student eligibility Applicant must meet the following criteria:
· Student is a high school senior, graduating in the spring of 2010
· Student will study an agricultural-related major at a two- or four-year college
· Student must be a U.S. citizen

Students must include the following information with the application:
· A copy of school transcripts
· Two letters of reference
· Completed answers to short essay questions
· School administrator/guidance counselor signature
· Applicant signature and if applicant is under 18, parent/guardian signature

All applicants will be notified by May 1.

Two-Year College Scholarship Program First-year agricultural students at two-year colleges are invited to apply for 25
$1,000 scholarships from the CHS Foundation.
Student eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the scholarships.
· Student must be in his/her first year at a two-year college studying an agricultural-related major; the scholarship is intended for use during the second
year of study
· Each student can only receive the scholarship once
· Student must be a U.S. citizen

University Scholarship Program
Students currently studying agriculture at select universities around the nation may be eligible to apply for a CHS Foundation University Scholarship. Nearly 150 $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually. Student eligibility
Scholarship recipients are selected by the following criteria:
· Students are working towards an agricultural-related degree to pursue a career in agribusiness or production agriculture
· Students will be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year; students are eligible to receive the scholarship multiple years
· First preference will be given to students with an interest in agricultural-based cooperatives; this may include, but not be limited to students who have:
o Demonstrated interest through educational experiences focusing on cooperatives, which may include, but is not limited to international study tours, professional development, conferences, job shadowing, current membership/involvement with an agricultural cooperative
o Interned, worked or plan to work for an agricultural-based cooperative o Taken a course covering cooperative business structure
Application and selection process To apply, eligible students should contact the financial aid, foundation or College of Agriculture offices of a participating university (listed below). Deadlines vary for individual universities. Scholarship recipients are selected by a designated committee at each participating university. These selection committees are independent from the CHS Foundation.

Danny Koehn of Montezuma recently won second place in the No Till/Strip Till Irrigated division of the 2009 National Corn Growerss Corn Yield Contest in Kansas. Koehn won with Pioneerbrand hybrid 33P84, which yielded 288 bushels per acre. Koehn earned one of the 346 state titles won by growers planting Pioneer hybrids. The NCGA Corn Yield Contest is an annual competition among corn producers with the goal of producing the highest yields. In the contest, growers compete within a broad range of corn production classes, including non-irrigated, no-till/strip-till non-irrigated, no-till/strip-till irrigated, ridge-till non-irrigated, ridge-till irrigated and irrigated classes.

Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth," premieres in NYC
I am pleased to announce that DC Cooperative in support of continue education for its members, is providing five $1000 scholarships.
Eligibility: Area high school seniors who will be graduating in May of 2010 and will be attending post education at Vo-Tech, Junior College or 4-year College will be eligible to apply. Application: Applicants must be children of parents who are members of DC Cooperative and will need to apply before May 3rd of 2010. Award money will be paid in two payments each semester to an education facility selected by winners. Scholarship winners will be announced prior to and will be recognized at the DC Cooperative Annual Meeting on May 18th , 2010 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Dodge City, KS. Committee: Applicants will be selected by a committee of educators, retired employees, current employees, business leaders, and management. Scholarships are awarded without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, and a statement of career and educational goals. Recipients: The scholarship winners will need to provide a proof of passing at the end of semester, graduation certificate, and certification of enrollment for the post education selected.
